I’m always a little shocked when I hear people mention the things other dads don’t typically do. Like change diapers or get up in the middle of the night to comfort crying little ones.
I’m shocked because these are things I didn’t realize dads “didn’t do.” Mike has always just done them. I’m not trying to brag that I’ve got a good one, but more so just speak to the kind of father he is. He is there for the nitty-gritty, and he’s there for the fun. He’s involved and participates in everything, even the things that might be considered more of “mom’s duty” than dad’s.
I love that when Evie has a nightmare, he is the one that goes running to comfort her. I love that he shows them all the cool and creative ways to hide in “hide and seek.” I love that he likes helping Braelyn with math (and she loves it too). I love how he calls the girls “little littles” and “cupcake.” I love that he will do pickups and drop offs in the afternoon just so I can go to the gym. I love how gentle he is with our girls. I love how sensitive he is to their tender hearts or how slow he is to lose his patience. I love how hard he works for his family and admire how little he wants in return.
I know there are a million ways to be a “great dad,” but Mike really is the “best” dad. To me, that means he is the one best suited for our girls. He was meant for them, and that is what makes him “the best” ;). These girls are so lucky to have him as a dad. And I’m so lucky to have him as a spouse to raise children with. I wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone else.
Happy Father’s Day babe! We love you!
